Associate Dean, Library Technology

About the role

The McGill Libraries are seeking a forward‑thinking, collaborative leader to serve as Associate Dean, Library Technology. This tenure‑track associate librarian will assume overall responsibility for the Library Technology portfolio, ensuring robust information systems and technology services that support research, teaching, and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of library technology strategy in alignment with the McGill Libraries’ strategic priorities (2025‑2030).
• Oversee the design, delivery, and maintenance of information systems, digital platforms, and related services.
• Manage technology staff, budgets, and external partnerships to sustain high‑quality services.
• Collaborate with academic units, scholars, and global library communities to enhance access to knowledge.
• Contribute to the governance and policy framework for library technology as a tenure‑track faculty member.

Required profile

• Tenure‑track appointment meeting the Regulations Relating to the Employment of Librarian Staff.
• Proven leadership experience in a research library or academic technology environment.
• Strong understanding of 21st‑century library technology trends and challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse, multicultural academic settings.
