Associate – Base Building Electrical Engineer

About the role

The HIDI Group is looking for an experienced Associate to lead base building electrical projects and mentor a multidisciplinary team. This senior‑level position reports to the Principal, Electrical and plays a key role in growing the Electrical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff, managing workloads and performance reviews.
• Oversee delivery of complex base building electrical projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical, budget, schedule and quality objectives are met.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations and provide technical guidance and peer review.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, support business development, and represent HIDI at client meetings and industry events.
• Monitor project staffing, utilization and financial performance while ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering with progressive consulting experience focused on base building systems.
• Proven experience leading project teams and mentoring technical staff.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code and ASHRAE standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership and relationship‑management abilities.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (Revit experience considered an asset).
• Proficiency with Revit.
• Familiarity with Ontario Building Code.
• Familiarity with Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
• Understanding of ASHRAE standards.
