Assistant Store Manager – Retail & Processing (Varsity)

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager supports daily store operations at the Varsity location, overseeing both retail and processing areas. You will supervise staff, handle customer interactions, and step in for the Store Manager when needed, ensuring a smooth and welcoming shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Interact professionally with customers and address their concerns, complaints, and compliments.
• Develop improvement plans based on customer feedback and review them with the Retail and Processing Manager.
• Monitor and support all store positions and functions, including scheduling and time‑card approval.
• Train team members on job tasks, paperwork, and documentation.
• Supervise staff, provide coaching, and conduct timely performance reviews.
• Assist in other store areas or locations as required, working in a multi‑functional environment.
• Take responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education is an asset.
• At least two years of supervisory experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• Experience in staff recruitment, training, and performance management is a plus.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service and teamwork.
• Ability to make honest decisions, recognize colleagues, and maintain a respectful, safe work environment.
