Assistant Service Manager

About the role

OpenRoad Toyota Port Moody is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to support the Service department in delivering high‑quality automotive service. This full‑time position reports to the Service Manager and plays a key role in coordinating repairs, estimates, and customer communication while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate clear repair instructions and provide labour and parts estimates to customers.
• Monitor job status throughout the workday and coordinate with technicians and department staff.
• Handle customer complaints and misunderstandings in a fair, timely, and professional manner.
• Act as a service advisor when needed and support the service advisor team.
• Motivate, train, and provide technical assistance to service department staff.
• Obtain warranty approvals from manufacturers or extended warranty providers before repairs.
• Assign tasks in the Service Manager’s absence and participate in policy planning.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of automotive equipment parts and accessories.
• Current knowledge of local sources of supply.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports using a computerized equipment maintenance system.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to keep the shop clean and follow safety policies.
• Capability to make sound decisions and work constructively with all dealership departments.
