Assistant Professor / Lecturer – Library & Information Studies

About the role

University College London’s Department of Information Studies is seeking an innovative researcher to join as a permanent full‑time Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Library and Information Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research across a broad spectrum of library and information topics.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Master’s level teaching within the MA in Library and Information Studies and potentially the BSc Information in Society.
• Supervise research students, including Masters and undergraduate dissertations.
• Develop and lead research projects in areas such as physical and digital collections, library management, scholarly communication, information behaviour, and critical approaches to library work.
• Participate in academic administration and departmental service duties.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Library and Information Studies or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of scholarly publications and a clear research agenda aligned with the department’s interests.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at postgraduate level and supervise research students.
• Commitment to contributing to the department’s academic community and outreach activities.
