Assistant Accountant

About the role

Concept2 is seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to support finance and accounting activities in Kingston, Ontario. This part‑time role involves maintaining accurate records, completing reconciliations, and assisting with period‑end close.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, payment requests, expense reports, and routine collection activities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, perform bank, credit‑card and other account reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support monthly, quarterly and year‑end close, financial reporting, schedule preparation and budgeting.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, record acquisitions/disposals, and calculate depreciation/amortisation.
• Assist with payroll‑related accounting, GST/HST records and tax reporting.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting practices and GST/HST requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or ERP systems.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheets.
