Analyst, Mid-Market Mergers & Acquisitions

About the role

The Mid‑Market Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) group is expanding its Toronto team and seeks an Analyst to support deal execution and business development across Canada. You will work closely with Associate Directors, Directors and Senior Directors, preparing presentations, research, financial models and transaction documentation for a variety of M&A mandates.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on companies and industries and produce concise summary reports.
• Assist in the creation of internal and external marketing materials and pitch decks.
• Prepare integrated financial models, including discounted cash flow and leveraged buy‑out analyses, to support proposals and transaction documents.
• Support the preparation and delivery of marketing pitches to internal partners and external clients.
• Collaborate with RBC partners in Commercial Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management under the direction of senior team members.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics or a quantitative field.
• Relevant experience in financial services such as investment banking, private equity, accounting or commercial banking.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel proficiency.
• Financial modelling and valuation techniques (DCF, LBO).
• Use of research tools such as Capital IQ.
• Financial statement analysis.
