Aircraft Avionics Technician – Entry Level

About the role

Join De Havilland Canada’s state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Calgary as an entry‑level Aircraft Avionics Technician. You will work hands‑on with the DHC‑515 Firefighter water‑bomber, supporting production and major modifications while gaining practical experience in aerospace avionics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical wiring tasks and system installations in an aircraft production environment.
• Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering orders and manufacturer installation manuals.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair avionics systems including communication, navigation, flight‑control and entertainment equipment.
• Fabricate and repair parts, create wire bundles, label wires and terminate connectors according to drawings and standard practices.
• Conduct system checks and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Maintain basic understanding of related aircraft systems such as hydraulics and flight controls to support comprehensive avionics work.

Required profile

• Recent graduate from an Avionics program (or similar discipline) at SAIT, Okanagan College, Mohawk College, BCIT or Fanshawe College.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to provide academic transcripts.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work effectively in a team‑focused manufacturing setting.

Required skills

• Electrical wiring and wire‑bundling techniques.
• Knowledge of standard avionics wiring practices.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals.
• Troubleshooting and repair of communication, navigation, flight‑control and entertainment systems.
• Connector termination and labeling proficiency.
