Accounts Receivable Clerk (Contract)

About the role

The Accounts Receivable Clerk will manage the full cycle of AR activities for CPX, a division of Canada Cartage. Based in Surrey, BC, this contract position focuses on accurate cash application, timely collections, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Apply customer payments accurately and promptly (cash application).
• Perform bank runs for cheque deposits and ensure timely processing.
• Monitor overdue balances, follow up with customers, and resolve short or delayed payments.
• Communicate payment schedules, reconcile discrepancies, and support credit limit evaluations.
• Reconcile customer accounts, resolve billing issues, and generate AR aging reports.
• Prepare and distribute weekly or monthly account statements.
• Maintain detailed records of collection activities and communications.
• Collaborate with commercial, operations, and finance teams to resolve disputes.
• Prepare write‑off and adjustment requests with supporting documentation.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities related to AR.
• Produce ad‑hoc reports and analyses for management and customers.
• Support continuous improvement of AR processes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of accounts receivable experience, preferably in a high‑volume environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a strong customer‑service focus.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
• Positive, professional attitude and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
