Accounting & Project Controls Coordinator

About the role

The Accounting & Project Controls Coordinator will monitor the project’s General Conditions budget, manage invoices and supplier charges, support procurement activities, and ensure accurate cost reporting and cash‑flow updates for construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and forecast the General Conditions budget, including commitments, actual costs, and cost‑to‑complete.
• Review and validate invoices, labour costs, and supplier charges for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, variance analysis, and cash‑flow updates for the project team and leadership.
• Support procurement of temporary facilities, equipment rentals, site services, and related items, including RFQs, bid comparisons, and purchase orders.
• Coordinate with Accounting on accounts payable, accruals, month‑end activities, and cost coding.
• Develop dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools to improve visibility into project costs and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in accounting, financial control or project accounting, preferably in construction.
• Knowledge of job costing, budget‑versus‑actual analysis, cost‑to‑complete and forecasting.
• Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, month‑end processes and cash‑flow forecasting.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Power BI (asset).
• Procore or other construction management software (asset).
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA (asset).
