Accounting Manager

About the role

SFIR Consulting Ltd. is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of client deliverables while mentoring a team of accountants. The role combines hands‑on bookkeeping with leadership responsibilities to uphold the firm’s high‑quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the final quality checkpoint for all client work and serve as the escalation point for complex bookkeeping issues.
• Oversee month‑end close and year‑end procedures, coordinating with external firms when needed.
• Manage hourly bookkeeping and consulting engagements and drive accounting process‑improvement initiatives.
• Review and oversee tax and compliance filings, including T4, T4A, T5, 1099, sales tax and ad‑hoc filings.
• Supervise, mentor and conduct performance reviews for staff accountants and interns.
• Deliver training on accounting practices, set development goals and participate in hiring and termination decisions.
• Handle operational tasks such as timesheet review, expense approval, budget management, project tracking and leave approvals.

• Enjoys coaching others and holding people accountable.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience in an accounting environment.
