Accountant III (CPA) – Accounting Policy & Advisory

About the role

This position is with a leading global financial institution in Toronto. The Accountant III will join the Chief Accountant's Department, focusing on accounting policy and advisory work for Wholesale Banking.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as subject‑matter expert on complex IFRS accounting issues.
• Research, analyze, and resolve matters related to financial instruments, consolidation, and structured transactions.
• Review new business initiatives, including IFRS 9 business model assessments and consolidation evaluations.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda, presentations, benchmarking analyses, and recommendations.
• Support the preparation and review of consolidated shareholder reports, financial statements, notes, MD&A, and supplemental disclosures.
• Monitor new IFRS pronouncements and update accounting policies accordingly.
• Provide advisory support to business units and corporate stakeholders.
• Lead discussions with auditors and internal partners on accounting treatments and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or final exam pending).
• 3+ years experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.
• 3+ years applying IFRS guidance in financial services or banking.
• Experience researching and advising on accounting policy matters.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.

What we offer

• Hybrid work arrangement (4 days onsite).
• Fixed‑term contract from July 2026 to July 2027.
• Pay rate up to $31.00 CAD per hour plus 4 % vacation pay.
