Academic Development and Cooperation Expert

About the role

Huawei Canada’s Technology Planning and Cooperation Department is seeking an Academic Development and Cooperation Expert to drive strategic collaborations with academic institutions. The role focuses on identifying and managing partnerships that align with Huawei’s research directions in software engineering and artificial intelligence, enhancing the company’s influence in the academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Identify collaboration opportunities such as competitions, grants, special issues, and workshops within key academic organizations aligned with Huawei’s research priorities.
• Develop comprehensive collaboration plans to address world‑class challenges and integrate internal and external resources.
• Manage substantive academic collaborations, ensuring project execution and achievement of defined goals.
• Maintain and expand networks of high‑level academic experts, monitoring organizational dynamics and fostering an open environment for innovation.
• Expand collaborative resources to strengthen Huawei’s presence and positive image in the academic community.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• Broad vision in cutting‑edge IT science and technology, especially AI, computing engineering, and software engineering.
• Ability to identify collaboration opportunities behind academic trends and changes.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technology research, ecosystem or industry development in AI, computing, or software engineering.
• Understanding of academic organization operations with relevant experience in academia or multilateral organizations.
• Willingness to continuously challenge oneself and enhance personal influence within and outside the company.
