3rd / 4th Year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Apprentice

About the role

Wildstone Construction is looking for a motivated 3rd or 4th year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Apprentice to join its service and installation team. The position supports commercial and light‑industrial projects and helps you progress toward Red Seal certification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist journeypersons with installation, piping, start‑up and commissioning of RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, condensers and evaporators.
• Lay out, fabricate and install refrigerant and condensate piping (copper, steel, PVC) – cutting, bending, threading, hanging, brazing, pressure testing, evacuation and charging under supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as coil cleaning, filter changes, belt inspections, lubrication and basic electrical/control checks.
• Safely handle refrigerants and test instruments (gauges, multimeters, probes) following regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment and participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.

Required profile

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years hands‑on HVAC/R experience with commercial or light‑industrial installation/service.
• Valid driver’s licence, acceptable driving abstract and ability to travel to multiple job sites.

Required skills

• Refrigeration piping, brazing, nitrogen purging, leak and pressure testing, evacuation and charging.
• Reading mechanical, electrical and control schematics and piping drawings.
• Use of gauges, multimeters, probes and basic electrical/control troubleshooting.
• Preventive maintenance tasks: coil cleaning, filter changes, belt inspections, lubrication.
