Youth Recreation Assistant – Evening Programs (5 Openings)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Youth Recreation Assistants will create fun, inclusive, and engaging recreation opportunities for children and youth during the fall and winter months. This role is ideal for energetic 15‑19‑year‑olds who want to help young people stay active, build confidence, and enjoy a positive community environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support evening recreation and youth sports programs.
• Create age‑appropriate games, sports, and activities that promote healthy, active living.
• Assist with planning and delivery of sports activities, cultural events, and community gatherings.
• Build positive relationships with participants and serve as a role model.
• Set up, clean up, organize equipment and maintain safe spaces.

Required profile

• Excellent oral communication and writing skills.
• Good organizational and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Positive role model and mentor for children.
• Willingness to perform active work indoors and outdoors.
• Fun, energetic, outgoing personality; reliable and patient.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of a team.
