Youth Employment Coach

About the role

The Youth Employment Coach provides intensive, one‑on‑one employment and life coaching to high‑risk youth aged 16‑24 through an outreach‑first model. Coaches meet participants in housing sites, community spaces and employer worksites, offering flexible support that includes evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Provide intensive one‑on‑one employment and life coaching to a caseload of approximately 13‑14 youth.
• Support youth through all stages of employment readiness, job search, placement, retention and termination recovery.
• Deliver structured skill‑building modules and facilitate paid engagement activities.
• Collaborate closely with mental health therapists, employer engagement staff and caseworkers to ensure long‑term workforce attachment.
• Maintain frequent contact, crisis‑responsive support and sustained engagement in housing sites, community locations and employer worksites.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet youth needs.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Career Development or a related field (considered an asset).
• Minimum two years’ experience working with high‑risk or marginalized youth (e.g., homelessness, justice involvement, mental health challenges).
• Experience providing employment coaching, life‑skills support or case management.
• Strong understanding of trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented care and strengths‑based practice.
• Ability to work in outreach settings, including housing and community locations.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the community.
