Winter Highway Maintenance Worker – Fraser Valley

About the role

We are seeking winter highway maintenance workers/labourers for Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley) to operate plow and sanding trucks, support road repairs, and respond quickly and safely in all weather conditions. This seasonal full‑time role is physically demanding, labour‑intensive and involves outdoor work in cold, snowy conditions and extended shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Clear obstructed drainage systems, perform roadside vegetation maintenance, patch potholes and remove litter and debris from the highway right‑of‑way.
• Remove snow and ice safely using snow removal and/or sanding equipment.
• Complete pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
• Change snowplow blades.
• Perform maintenance and service work on equipment and plow trucks as required.
• Carry out any other duties as required.

Required profile

• Able to operate equipment safely and responsibly according to Motor Vehicle Act standards and company policies.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather; role is labour‑intensive.
• Valid Canadian driver’s licence with a clean abstract; minimum Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement.
• Available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and on‑call during snow events.
• Previous snowplowing and heavy equipment experience (asset).
• Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (asset).
• Effective communicator with co‑workers and supervisors.
• Working safely is a condition of employment.
