Wellness Access Advisor – Student Services

About the role

The Wellness Access Advisor supports McGill students by providing rapid mental‑health screening, brief interventions, and coordinated referrals. Reporting to the Associate Director of Wellness, the role works within the Student Wellness Hub’s interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial mental‑health assessments, develop wellness plans, and determine need for crisis intervention.
• Make emergent and non‑emergent referrals to campus and community services, maintaining up‑to‑date resource knowledge.
• Collaborate with academic advisors, residence life managers, and other support staff to streamline student access to care.
• Document assessments, referrals, and appointments in the Collaborative Care Model system.
• Participate in hub meetings, trainings, and occasional outreach workshops.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, or related field with licensure to practice in Quebec (preferred).
• Member in good standing of a professional order in Quebec.
• At least two years of clinical experience in a mental‑health setting, including crisis situations.
• Knowledge of Quebec’s public and private mental‑health resources.
• Ability to work autonomously in a decentralized care model.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint.
• Effective use of email and internet search tools.
