Web Application Specialist

About the role

The Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G) at McGill University is seeking a Web Application Specialist to develop and maintain open‑source research data management solutions that support genomics and health data sharing across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, monitor and maintain interactive web applications using TypeScript and React.
• Develop server‑side APIs and data‑processing scripts in Python.
• Ensure high‑quality code through documentation, unit testing and best coding practices.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation tools for testing and delivery.
• Optimize performance and ensure cross‑browser compatibility.
• Participate in code reviews and use an issue‑tracking system to manage tasks and bugs.
• Contribute to research prototyping of new genomics data services.

Required profile

• Experience building client‑side and server‑side web applications.
• Ability to work in short development cycles with frequent releases.
• Strong collaboration skills with bioinformatics and platform teams.
