Virtual Care Registered Nurse (Remote)

About the role

Fonemed is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide virtual care through telephone triage for the 811 HealthLine and Mental Health Crisis Line in Newfoundland and Labrador. This remote position allows you to work from home while delivering critical health and mental‑health support to callers across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct telephone triage using Schmitt‑Thompson protocols and provide nursing advice.
• Offer mental‑health, addictions, and crisis‑intervention support, including suicide prevention.
• Exercise clinical judgment to determine appropriate disposition and level of care.
• Document confidential medical records accurately and promptly.
• Communicate clear, concise information and directions during each patient encounter.

Required profile

• Graduation from a recognized School of Nursing.
• Minimum 2 years recent triage or clinical experience (ER, mental health, ICU, acute care, etc.).
• Active licensure with the CRNNL or willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Private, closed‑door workspace with personal computer, headset, and high‑speed internet.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Windows‑based computer systems.
• Comfort using telephone systems and related software applications.
