Vice President, AI Software Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Vice President of AI Software Engineering to lead an agile, AI‑native development team within the Mastercard Foundry R&D organization in Toronto. The role combines hands‑on engineering with strategic product development, guiding ideas from concept through release in the payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the engineering vision for large‑scale, data‑oriented product initiatives.
• Lead cross‑functional pods to design, build, test, and deploy AI‑enhanced software applications.
• Partner with product teams to shape emerging product constructs and validate market fit.
• Develop deep expertise in data assets, analytics, and infrastructure to support scalable solutions.
• Mentor and grow high‑performing, talent‑dense teams in AI‑native development practices.
• Establish and improve AI‑native software development lifecycle best practices, including design, architecture, code reviews, testing, and release.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading high‑performing engineering teams delivering customer‑facing software.
• Strong product‑building mindset with a practical understanding of modern AI system trade‑offs.
• Curiosity to experiment with new team structures, processes, and AI tooling.
