About the role

Bannockburn School, a leading independent Montessori institution in Toronto, is seeking an Upper Elementary Teacher to join its authentic Montessori program starting Fall 2024. The role involves creating a supportive, inspiring classroom that helps each child reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a welcoming classroom environment aligned with Montessori principles.
• Design and deliver educational experiences that inspire and challenge students.
• Support student growth through lesson planning, observations, and progress documentation.
• Maintain accurate records, including long‑ and short‑term lesson plans.
• Plan and participate in field trips, including overnight and out‑of‑province trips.
• Build positive relationships with faculty, parents, and the wider school community.
• Participate actively in staff, faculty, and department meetings.
• Engage in school community events and activities.

Required profile

• Upper Elementary Montessori teacher training diploma (MACTE or AMI).
• Bachelor of Education is an asset.
• Professional work ethic and passion for working with children.
• Experience creating an environment that enables student development.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Effective classroom management and organizational abilities.
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR‑C certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Current vulnerable screening police record check (or willingness to obtain).
