Transportation Operations Manager

About the role

The Transportation Operations Manager leads day‑to‑day transport and dispatch activities for CommerceLink Logistics, ensuring safe, efficient and on‑time delivery of shipments for a major Canadian retailer. This full‑time, office‑based position works Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership, supervision and direction to the dispatch team, planning and assigning daily workloads.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight flow while maintaining visibility of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.
• Recruit, train, coach and develop team members to support continuous improvement.
• Plan and schedule staff across all shifts to guarantee 24‑hour coverage aligned with volume requirements.
• Support dispatchers and front‑line supervisors in resolving operational challenges such as equipment breakdowns, accidents and staffing call‑ins.
• Monitor service levels, operational metrics and KPIs, reviewing weekly reports and adjusting resources as needed.
• Ensure required training and certifications are maintained and act as primary contact for billing and payroll issues.
• Promote and enforce safety, compliance and company standards.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in transportation operations, dispatch management or related roles.
• College diploma or equivalent experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
