Training Designer

About the role

Air Canada is seeking a Training Designer to create, develop, and maintain learning programs that support business objectives and align with the airline’s strategic ambition to become a global top‑ten carrier. Reporting to the Manager, Training Design, you will work within a collaborative team to produce detailed design documents, storyboards, facilitator guides, and other instructional materials.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Manager, Training Design and stakeholders to define learning outcomes and design solutions based on adult‑learning principles.
• Apply instructional design models and learning theories to develop high‑quality programs that meet defined outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects of varying complexity, ensuring timely delivery.
• Continuously improve learning experiences by incorporating accessibility, strong user experience, and business relevance.
• Maintain and update existing programs to keep them effective and relevant.
• Stay informed about business processes, systems, and industry trends to inform design decisions.
• Deliver Train‑the‑Trainer workshops to prepare trainers for program rollout.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Adult Learning, Workplace Learning, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on instructional design experience.
• Experience in the hospitality or airline sector is a strong asset.
• Ability to travel 10‑15% of the time.
• Demonstrated punctuality, dependability, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of instructional design methodologies and their practical application.
• Experience designing instructor‑led, online, mobile, or blended learning experiences.
• Aptitude for quickly grasping systems and technical concepts.
