Train Conductor

About the role

CPKC is seeking dedicated Train Conductors to join its transnational railroad network across North America. Conductors work as essential members of train crews, ensuring safe and efficient movement of rail cars in yards and on the main line.

Key responsibilities

• Operate in train or yard service based on seniority, following detailed route instructions.
• Coordinate switching of rail cars, including coupling, uncoupling, and lifting coupling devices.
• Observe and enforce safety protocols while moving trains and handling equipment.
• Communicate clearly with crew members and dispatch via radio.
• Maintain accurate records of train movements and yard activities.

Required profile

• Physically able to walk up to 10 km daily, lift up to 80 lb, and work outdoors in all weather.
• Willingness to work unscheduled 24/7 shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to report to work within a two‑hour call window after rest periods.
• At least 18 years old with a high‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s licence and Canadian passport allowing U.S. entry.
