Thrift Store Supervisor

About the role

The Thrift Store Supervisor ensures the St. Thomas Thrift Store is organized, tidy, and delivers courteous service to customers. Working closely with the Corps Officer, the supervisor helps drive store performance through effective operations, merchandising, and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in executing daily store operations, maintain appropriate stock levels, and oversee cash transactions.
• Supervise and train employees and volunteers, create work schedules, and ensure coverage for absences.
• Manage inventory control by sorting, pricing, and discarding unsellable items while preventing shrinkage.
• Develop store layout and visual displays to attract customers and support marketing initiatives.
• Maintain store cleanliness, report maintenance issues, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Community college diploma or equivalent in a related field (or comparable experience).
• Minimum two years of retail, marketing, or supervisory experience, including cash handling.
• Ability to pass background and safety screenings required by The Salvation Army.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lb, and perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.

• Cash handling and cash‑register operation.
• Basic math for calculating discounts and percentages.
• Computer proficiency for inventory and sales reporting.
• Attention to detail in merchandising and inventory control.

• Competitive salary range of $38,480.00 – $57,740.80 CAD per year.
