Third Officer – Floatel Vessel (Rotational)

About the role

The Third Officer supports navigation, safety and guest services on a floatel operating alongside Squamish, BC. Working under the Chief Officer, the role ensures safe vessel operation and high‑quality guest experiences on a rotational three‑year schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Officer with navigation, maneuvering and berthing of the floatel.
• Stand watch on the bridge, monitor vessel position, course and speed, and maintain navigational logs.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures, conduct drills and ensure life‑saving equipment is operational.
• Support guest services by responding to inquiries, assisting with activities and collaborating with hotel management.
• Supervise and train crew members on safety, emergency response and guest service standards.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years experience as a Third Officer or similar role on passenger vessels.
• STCW certifications including Reg. II/1, Reg. IV/2 GMDSS, Reg. VI/1‑VI/6, Crisis Management, Crowd Management, Ro/Ro passenger training, ECDIS generic and type‑specific training.
• Proficient in English (written and verbal) and able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
