Term Interventionist – Orton Gillingham Educator

About the role

The Beaufort Delta Divisional Council seeks a dynamic educator to lead the development and delivery of an Orton Gillingham‑based curriculum. This term position focuses on integrating Indigenous knowledge, competency‑based learning, and land‑based education within a culturally rich environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with educators, Elders, and community members to design and implement a competency‑based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
• Foster a learning environment that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives.
• Implement strategies that promote equity and inclusion, addressing disparities and nurturing a sense of belonging for all students.
• Liaise between the school and the community to gather input, collaboration, and feedback for continuous program improvement.
• Develop and integrate land‑based learning opportunities, strengthening connections to the land and traditional practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education.
• Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate.
• Completion of Orton Gillingham Approach Associate coursework or equivalent.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
• Experience implementing inquiry‑based instructional pedagogy.
• Experience in curriculum implementation with a focus on competency‑based education.
• Experience in competency‑based assessment and evaluation.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Understanding of Northwest Territories' inclusive schooling practices.
• Knowledge of land‑based education principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
