Tenure Track Faculty Member, Large Animal Medicine

About the role

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time tenure‑track faculty member to join its Large Animal Internal Medicine team. This teacher‑scholar position supports clinical care, teaching, and research for equine and food‑and‑fiber species.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and referral clinical services for large animals, including out‑of‑hours coverage.
• Deliver didactic lectures to DVM undergraduate students.
• Supervise graduate students, interns, and residents in clinical and research settings.
• Participate in departmental service, research collaborations, and scholarly activities.

Required profile

• DVM degree or equivalent.
• Advanced postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD).
• Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or completion of an ACVIM‑registered residency.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collegially with diverse colleagues.

Required skills

• CT scanning operation and interpretation.
• MRI acquisition and interpretation, including standing equine MRI.
• Ultrasound imaging (e.g., Toshiba Aplio 300).
• Gamma camera imaging and analysis.
• High‑speed treadmill operation for equine performance assessment.
• Endoscopic examination techniques.
