Temporary Safeguarding Specialist

About the role

The Temporary Safeguarding Specialist will provide expert guidance to strengthen World Renew’s safeguarding systems across the United States and Canada. Working remotely, the specialist will help align policies, practices and training with global commitments, CHS standards and relevant legal frameworks. This 90‑day contract (extendable to 120 days) focuses on preventing and responding to abuse, exploitation, harassment and misconduct.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical leadership on safeguarding prevention, risk management, reporting and response mechanisms.
• Develop, review and update safeguarding policies to ensure compliance with CHS, Canadian and U.S. regulations.
• Design and facilitate training sessions for staff and partners on safeguarding best practices.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on safeguarding culture and accountability.
• Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools to track safeguarding performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safeguarding considerations into program design.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, protection or human‑rights work within North America.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. legal and regulatory frameworks related to safeguarding.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.
• Proven capacity to develop policies, training materials and strategic guidance.
