Temporary Part‑Time Educational Assistant (Grades 1‑9)

About the role

The Palliser School Division is seeking a motivated Educational Assistant to support students in Grades 1‑9 at Riverbend Colony School. This temporary, part‑time position runs from August 21, 2026 to June 30, 2027 and offers the chance to work closely with teachers, families, and specialists to enhance student learning and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and assist students in accessing classroom technology.
• Contribute to the development and review of Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and participate in learning‑team meetings.
• Collect and record data to monitor student progress and inform IPP updates.
• Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and support staff regarding student needs and achievements.
• Facilitate activities that build self‑esteem, independence, and positive peer interaction.
• Provide personal care (toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming) while maintaining student dignity.
• Assist with physical needs such as lifting, positioning, and range‑of‑motion exercises as directed.

Required profile

• Completed post‑secondary certificate or vocational training in child care, development, or behavior management, with practicum experience supporting students with special needs.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification (Child CPR preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering inclusive, respectful learning environments.
