Technical Support Analyst – Tier 2

About the role

The County of Elgin is seeking a Technical Support Analyst – Tier 2 to design, operate, secure, and optimise its technology infrastructure. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technologies, you will ensure the reliability and integrity of network, server, and cloud services while providing advanced support to internal users.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with departments and senior staff to plan, implement and maintain secure technology solutions.
• Provide mentorship and escalation support to Tier 1 support staff.
• Maintain and monitor the County’s network, server and cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Implement and oversee cybersecurity controls, data‑protection standards and network resilience measures.
• Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records and asset inventories.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation for after‑hours incident response.
• Develop and update technical knowledge‑base documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance system stability, efficiency and scalability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in network administration, server management and cloud‑based services.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and incident response.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to non‑technical users.
• Experience mentoring junior support staff and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
