Technical Architect

About the role

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is seeking a Technical Architect to shape and govern the information technology architecture for its applications, integrations, and digital platforms. Working closely with the IS teams and the Manager of IT Platform Engineering, you will translate project and platform requirements into clear, implementable technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis to evaluate technologies, platforms, and integration approaches against IS architecture standards.
• Explore and recommend frameworks, platforms, and technical stacks, assessing fit with the organization’s architecture portfolio.
• Act as the primary owner for technology planning within the Information Services team and participate in internal project planning.
• Identify and implement improvements to address technical debt, enhance integrations, and improve platform reliability.
• Lead the identification and validation of business and technical needs with internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate business and project requirements into concrete architecture designs and specifications for delivery teams.
• Ensure platform coherence across IS‑governed environments by designing reusable, integrated solutions.
• Provide architecture oversight across enterprise application implementations, IT infrastructure, and field technology projects (IoT, cameras, gate control, OT/IT).

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical architecture and integration lifecycle management.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate technologies against standards and requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
• Leadership capability to drive technical decisions and improvements.
