Team Lead - Emergency Response & Security

About the role

Evolution Mining is hiring a Team Lead for Emergency Response and Security (ERO) at its Red Lake mine in Northwestern Ontario, where three underground mines and two processing plants sit on one of Canada's highest-grade gold deposits. This is a new role that ensures the mine maintains an effective emergency response capability through planning, training, equipment readiness, drills and continuous improvement, while overseeing site security activities and supporting incident management when required. The salary range is 127,000 to 165,000 CAD.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Emergency Response Officers and coordinate underground and surface emergency teams, keeping them ready and coordinating their activities during incidents.
• Develop, maintain and review emergency response plans, procedures, SWIs, TARPs and risk assessments, including site-specific rescue plans.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training and competency of emergency response teams, run scenario-based training and annual drills, and coach team members.
• Inspect, test and maintain emergency equipment, refuge facilities, escape routes and communications, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Oversee the security team, coordinate access control, gatehouse activities and visitor/contractor access, and respond to security incidents.
• Respond to emergencies, support incident investigations and debriefs, and keep accurate records for audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
• Ensure compliance with Ontario legislation, regulations and group standards, and exercise stop-work authority where risks are unacceptable.

Required profile

• Post-secondary education in Emergency Management, OHS, Emergency Services, Training, Mining or a related discipline, or equivalent mining and emergency response experience.
• 8-10 years of mining experience, preferably underground hard-rock mining, and at least 5 years of emergency response/ERT experience.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario OHS and mining requirements, and of emergency response, rescue and underground mining.
• Leadership, decision-making under pressure, planning and stakeholder coordination skills.
