Tax Manager – High Net Worth & Cross‑Border Services

About the role

EY is seeking a Tax Manager to join its People Advisory Services practice in Vancouver. The role focuses on high‑net‑worth individuals and families, providing advice on compensation, domestic tax planning, estate and wealth transfer, and cross‑border tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Identify planning opportunities and draft correspondence on income‑tax implications of transactions.
• Research client issues using online resources and prepare tax advisory memos.
• Liaise with clients' legal counsel, family offices, and EY internal teams.
• Review and file personal, trust, and corporate tax returns and related compliance documents.
• Interact with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries on client matters.
• Prepare or review tax election forms and manage personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
• Mentor junior team members and support their technical development.

Required profile

• CPA designation with an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or a related field.
• At least 5 years of Canadian tax experience in public practice or industry.
• Broad knowledge of domestic Canadian taxation and willingness to expand into international and compensation tax areas.
• Completion or enrollment in the CPA In‑Depth Tax Course or equivalent qualification.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Canadian personal, corporate, and trust tax regulations.
• Experience preparing tax returns, election forms, and advisory memoranda.
• Ability to research complex tax issues and communicate findings clearly.
• Effective collaboration with legal counsel, family offices, and tax authorities.
