Tax Consulting Manager

About the role

The Tax Consulting Manager will provide expert tax consulting to Raymond James' Private Client Group advisors and their high‑net‑worth clients across Canada and the United States. Reporting to the Vice President of Tax Consulting, you will become a key resource for cross‑border tax planning, estate strategies, and wealth‑management solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tax consulting services for personal, corporate, trust, and estate clients through meetings and written analysis.
• Partner with investment advisors, trust officers, charitable foundations, insurance agents, tax preparers, and financial planners to create comprehensive plans.
• Respond promptly to daily income‑tax and cross‑border tax inquiries using current research sources.
• Author client‑facing educational materials, presentations, and social‑media content on Canadian and U.S. tax topics.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the Income Tax Act, Internal Revenue Code, and international tax conventions.
• Support financial planners with technical tax reviews and assist in implementing tax strategies with external professionals.
• Review advisor‑prepared marketing materials for tax accuracy and clarity.
• Participate in additional projects and initiatives as assigned.

Required profile

• Professional designation (CPA, CA, or equivalent) with extensive experience in Canadian and U.S. tax law.
• Demonstrated expertise in cross‑border tax issues such as U.S. citizenship, residency, estate and gift tax, and retirement‑plan planning.
• Strong knowledge of high‑net‑worth planning strategies including trusts, business succession, estate freezes, RCAs, IPPs, holding companies, and charitable gifting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
