Systems & Maintenance Technician – Remote Lodge

About the role

The Systems & Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, reliable operation of all physical infrastructure, mechanical systems, and grounds at Blachford Lodge, a remote off‑grid hospitality destination in the Northwest Territories.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with operation and monitoring of generators, boilers, heating and fuel systems.
• Handle diesel, propane and pellet fuel safely following established protocols.
• Maintain water supply, filtration, wastewater and hot‑tub systems.
• Perform routine inspections, log maintenance activities and report safety‑critical issues immediately.
• Support snow removal, firewood preparation, trail upkeep and helipad clearing.
• Assist contractors, manage freight handling and provide occasional guest‑facing support when capacity allows.

Required profile

• Experience with generators, heating, plumbing or fuel systems in remote settings.
• Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and ability to work outdoors in sub‑Arctic conditions.
• Valid driver’s licence and experience operating snowmobiles or ATVs.
• Wilderness First Aid, bear‑awareness training and standard First Aid/CPR certification.
