Systems Engineer – High Performance Computing

About the role

Mistral AI is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, operate, and scale the infrastructure behind its AI platforms. This hybrid position blends systems administration with engineering to ensure large‑scale Linux environments run reliably for both production and research workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain bare‑metal, cluster, and cloud Linux environments at scale.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and guarantee high availability.
• Scale clusters from hundreds to thousands of nodes and manage petabyte‑scale storage.
• Automate operational tasks using Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, and other IaC tools.
• Contribute to system design, architecture decisions, and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with HPC, infrastructure, DevOps, and research teams, acting as a bridge between users and the platform.

Required profile

• Strong Linux systems administration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale HPC clusters or cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with job schedulers such as Slurm.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across hardware, networking, and software.
