Systems Administrator

About the role

Techo-Bloc, a manufacturer of concrete pavers, retaining walls and architectural masonry with facilities and distribution centres across Canada and the United States, is looking for a Systems Administrator. The role keeps the company's servers, networks, storage and monitoring systems running, from day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting to supporting the IT team's infrastructure roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Help keep infrastructure compliant with company policies, procedures and standards
• Take part in installing and administering infrastructure across the company's sites, keeping networks, servers and storage current
• Manage server monitoring systems to spot issues before they become outages
• Analyze reported problems, diagnose root causes, take corrective action and follow through until resolved
• Manage data backup and archiving, and help implement, maintain and test the disaster recovery plan
• Take part in new technology projects, write technical documentation and provide after-hours support on a rotating on-call schedule
• Travel occasionally (about 5% of the time) to sites in Quebec, Ontario, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina

Required profile

• 5+ years as a systems administrator or in a similar infrastructure role
• Multi-site experience, ideally in manufacturing, distribution or industry
• Bilingual French and English, as the company has plants in Quebec and offices across North America
• Organized, thorough communicator who can handle several priorities and document fixes clearly

Required skills

• Solid hands-on experience with virtualized servers (Linux and Windows), networks and storage
• Microsoft stack: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, SharePoint, Azure IaaS
• Backup, archiving, monitoring tools and disaster recovery planning
• Familiarity with ERP environments and an ITSM/ticketing platform (Jira preferred)
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, Docker)
