About the role
We are looking for an experienced Sushi Chef to join our restaurant in Vancouver. This permanent, full‑time position involves preparing high‑quality sushi and Japanese dishes for our guests, including special events and guests with dietary restrictions.
Key responsibilities
- Estimate quantities and costs of supplies, and manage inventory of fish and seafood.
- Supervise and train cooks, specialist chefs, and other kitchen staff.
- Create new sushi recipes and plan menus that meet quality standards.
- Prepare and cook dishes for regular service and special functions, ensuring proper presentation.
- Arrange equipment purchases, repairs, and maintain kitchen safety.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a restaurant kitchen, preferably as a head or senior chef.
- Availability to work evening and weekend shifts.
Required skills
- Sushi preparation techniques.
- Japanese cuisine knowledge.
- Handling and preparation of fish and seafood.
