Superintendent - Building Construction

About the role

The Building Construction Superintendent will lead day‑to‑day activities on industrial, commercial and institutional projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This position works closely with project managers, engineers, architects and subcontractors to maintain compliance with codes, safety regulations and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee construction of large‑scale building projects, coordinating trades and on‑site labor forces.
• Ensure work complies with blueprints, contracts, safety codes and building regulations.
• Review plans and specifications to verify design adherence.
• Manage delivery of materials and equipment to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain daily logs, records and regular safety meetings on site.
• Troubleshoot scheduling, logistics or quality issues to avoid delays.
• Inspect work and materials for quality compliance.
• Monitor costs, uphold budget discipline and suggest cost‑saving measures.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of progressive experience in building construction, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
• Experience with large‑scale projects such as office buildings, hospitals, residential complexes, schools or industrial facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field preferred but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of building construction methods, standards and best practices.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore and Bluebeam.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
