Student Support Assistant

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s English Language Institute seeks enthusiastic Student Support Assistants to act as local ambassadors, fostering community, cultural exchange, and student wellbeing both on and off campus.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate cross‑cultural interactions and English language experiences outside the classroom.
• Plan, organize, and execute workshops, activities, and events for ELI students.
• Develop and curate social‑media content by capturing student and instructor stories.
• Build relationships with students, instructors, and staff to gather diverse marketing assets.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to program delivery.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Team‑focused mindset with cultural sensitivity and self‑awareness.
• Ability to communicate empathetically with a highly diverse population.
• Judgment to handle individual circumstances sensitively.
