About the role

Daily Hive is seeking a passionate Staff Writer to join its blogTO team in Toronto. You will create engaging, hyper‑local news and lifestyle content that captures the pulse of the Greater Toronto Area.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write, and publish daily news, lifestyle, and cultural stories for blogTO.
• Cover breaking news, real‑estate, events, food, nightlife, travel, and city history.
• Use analytics to identify story ideas that drive audience conversation.
• Collaborate with editors and teammates to prioritize coverage and pitch ideas.
• Monitor viral trends on social media and incorporate them into coverage.
• Attend events, conduct interviews, and capture photos or vertical video clips for articles.
• Schedule weekend content and contribute to editorial meetings.

Required profile

• Experienced digital reporter with a strong curiosity for local stories.
• Deep knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area and its communities.
• Ability to write entertaining, timely pieces across a wide range of topics.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced newsroom environment.
