Solids Control Field Technician (Remote, Canada)

About the role

Stage 3 is seeking a Solids Control Field Technician to support drilling operations across Canada. You will receive on‑the‑job training on specialized mud‑system equipment and work 12‑hour rotational shifts while traveling to remote project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Work 14 days on / 7 days off schedule, including overtime and swing shifts.
• Travel domestically to remote locations and be assigned to one or multiple projects.
• Rig up and rig down solids‑control equipment such as shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying units and pumps.
• Perform fluid analysis (weight, viscosity, retort) and basic routine maintenance and electrical tasks.
• Execute solids‑control services including air drilling, barite recovery, de‑watering, floc water handling, fluid transfers, low‑gravity solids targeting, and cuttings drying.
• Operate heavy machinery safely under supervision and maintain a clean work environment using pressure‑washing equipment.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, complete PJRA/JSA, inspection reports and adhere to PPE and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotational shifts and a 14‑day on/7‑day off schedule.
• Ability to travel across Canada to remote sites.
• Commitment to safety and ability to follow strict safety procedures.
• Readiness to learn equipment rigging, basic electrical principles and drilling‑fluid properties.

Required skills

• Operation of shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment and pumps.
• Knowledge of air drilling, barite recovery, de‑watering and fluid transfer processes.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
• Understanding of drilling‑fluid analysis (weight, funnel viscosity, retort).
• Heavy‑machinery operation and pressure‑washing techniques.
