Software Engineer – All Levels (Canada)

About the role

This position is for a Software Engineer at all experience levels, based in Canada. You will work on advanced software systems that make critical scientific data accessible, actionable, and valuable for teams driving industrial and energy‑transition innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain production‑quality software that enables advanced data analysis and operational decision‑making.
• Collaborate with scientific experts, data scientists, and engineering teams to translate complex challenges into effective technology solutions.
• Build scalable data pipelines, internal tools, and platforms that turn large datasets into actionable insights.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of projects, from problem definition through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Develop deep expertise in internal data systems and understand how software contributes to broader scientific objectives.
• Lead or contribute to engineering initiatives, mentor teammates, and support successful project delivery.
• Improve system reliability by monitoring services, addressing operational issues, and supporting internal‑tool users.
• Participate in technical discussions, provide feedback, and foster a culture of high‑quality engineering practices.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, preferably building production‑level cloud‑based data systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and a track record of writing clean, scalable, maintainable, well‑tested code.
• Ability to design and build large‑scale systems with attention to performance, reliability, and extensibility.
• Demonstrated ownership of projects from definition to measurable impact.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn new domains and technologies.
• Clear communication of complex technical concepts and effective collaboration with non‑technical stakeholders.
