Software Developer – Front‑End React Engineer

About the role

The Global Wealth Engineering client technology team is looking for a skilled Software Developer to build and maintain user‑facing web applications for Scotia Wealth Management. You will work closely with the Scotia Digital team to deliver modern, high‑performance digital experiences for investors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front‑end features using React.js, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into clean, reusable, and scalable code.
• Optimize components for performance across a wide range of devices and browsers.
• Write unit and end‑to‑end tests with Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with architects, UX designers, product owners, and other developers on architecture, design, and maintainability.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience with React.js and its ecosystem.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript fundamentals, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and ES6+ features.
• Experience with state‑management libraries such as Redux or Flux.
• Solid understanding of front‑end performance techniques (lazy loading, code splitting, memoization).
• Good knowledge of Node.js package management (Yarn/NPM) and building tools.
• Familiarity with mobile‑first, responsive design and Progressive Web Apps.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or Azure) and micro‑service architectures.
• Awareness of accessibility standards (AODA) and related regulations.
