Software Craftsperson – Python & AI (Canada)

About the role

This position sits at the intersection of software engineering and AI‑native development. You will build high‑quality, scalable Python‑based systems while using modern AI tools as co‑creators throughout the development lifecycle. The role is highly autonomous, impact‑driven and expects strong ownership and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of engineering initiatives, from design to production stability.
• Design and deliver scalable, maintainable features with a focus on architecture and long‑term sustainability.
• Identify and drive improvements in technical, product and process inefficiencies.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate design, development, testing, debugging and delivery.
• Contribute to DevEx and delivery improvements using DORA metrics and flow optimisation.
• Support estimation, planning and incremental delivery of value.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring and feedback.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and align on outcomes.
• Influence engineering standards, including code quality, testing and system design.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years with AI/ML systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python (and willingness to work with TypeScript).
• Hands‑on experience building production applications using large language models (e.g., GPT, Claude).
• Experience in prompt engineering and improving structured LLM outputs.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, PgVector) and LLMOps practices.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and software design.
