Social Media Assistant

About the role

The Desautels Communications team at McGill University is looking for a Social Media Assistant to create student‑focused content for Instagram and LinkedIn. This part‑time position offers a flexible schedule for a current McGill student who can work independently.

Key responsibilities

• Generate post and Reel concepts from a student perspective.
• Draft, edit and schedule Instagram and LinkedIn content.
• Source and lightly edit photos and short‑form videos.
• Monitor current social‑media trends and adapt content accordingly.
• Assist with basic community management and analytics reporting.

Required profile

• Current McGill student authorized to work in Canada.
• High school diploma with at least two years of related experience.
• Strong written English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently on a flexible schedule.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Instagram and LinkedIn platforms.
• Experience creating Reels or other short‑form video content.
• Basic photo and video editing capabilities.
• Familiarity with social‑scheduling tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite) is an asset.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $18.60 (CAD) for up to 10 hours per week.
