Social Environment Professional

About the role

BBA is seeking a Social Environment Professional with more than five years of experience in social environment studies. The role supports business development and delivers comprehensive socio‑economic components of environmental studies for industrial, energy, mining and land‑use planning projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate BBA’s consulting services in stakeholder engagement and communication, including drafting consulting reports.
• Lead the social environment component of environmental studies, collecting and analysing socio‑economic data through surveys and interviews with local and Indigenous communities.
• Perform land‑use and occupancy surveys, identify socio‑economic challenges, assess project impacts and propose mitigation measures.
• Develop and implement market strategies with senior leaders to grow the Environment group.
• Collaborate with other BBA departments and offices, manage project budgets and schedules, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality reports.
• Attend internal and external meetings, maintain effective team communication, and renegotiate deadlines or budgets when necessary.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, sociology, geography, land‑use planning or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
• At least five years of experience conducting social studies or land‑use planning, preferably with First Nations and in energy, heavy industry or mining sectors.
• Strong knowledge of legislation, regulations, permit applications, environmental impact assessments and stakeholder consultation processes.
• Advanced English and French language skills.
• Willingness to undertake short‑term assignments at client sites.
