Skate Patroller Assistant

About the role

The City of Mississauga is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join its Skate Patrol team as Assistants. You will help deliver safe and enjoyable public skating experiences across multiple community arenas.

Key responsibilities

• Verify participants have proof of payment and are wearing appropriate equipment.
• Provide courteous customer service and answer program‑related questions.
• Conduct on‑site facility checks and monitor use of allowed equipment.
• Administer first aid when needed and complete accident/incident reports.
• Perform routine administrative tasks and enforce the city’s zero‑tolerance policy for abusive behaviour.
• Report staffing or participant issues to the full‑time supervisor.
• Assist with any other duties assigned by the Supervisor of City Wide Programs or Skate Patrol Lead.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 15 years.
• Valid Emergency or Standard First Aid certificate with CPR‑B or CPR‑C (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, or Canadian Ski Patrol).
• Strong skating ability and knowledge of safe on‑ice practices.
• Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand and skate for extended periods in a cold environment.
• Previous customer‑service experience is an asset.
• Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check (candidate’s expense).

Required skills

• First Aid (CPR‑B/C) certification.
• Proficient skating skills.

What we offer

• Part‑time schedule up to 24 hours per week, evenings and weekends.
• Hourly wage ranging from $18.69 to $22.25 CAD.
